Marching Powder by Rusty Young a true story of life inside Bolivia’s San Pedro prison, where inmates buy their cells, run businesses and also have their families in with them, the consequences of cocaine! Careless People by Sara Wynn-Williams this book gives us a glimpse at Mark Zuckerman the face behind Facebook and the culture of power and greed that pervades the corporate world. The Correspondent by Virginia Evans the story is told entirely through letters and emails. A 73 year old retired lawyer writes blunt letters to famous authors, but we also see into her life in the garden club and previous suitors written along the lines of 84 Charing Cross Road. The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout, readers of Elizabeth Strout’s books will not be disappointed by her latest offering, written in her usual style we are introduced to different characters this time. LittleWhite Secrets by Catherine Jinks, this is a romantic novel set in Sable Cove, Canada, a light read, well written. 7 Days of Us by Francesca Hornak, a light entertaining read about an unusual family Christmas, a nice read for a rainy day. A New England Affair by Steven Carroll the third novel in the Eliot quartet. A portrait of T.S. Eliot, a novel of lost love and missed moments, very well written. The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden a twisting pschological thriller with different options appearing through the story. Another Freida McFadden thriller is The Tenant our reader found the writing interesting, this was another thriller about a tenant taken in as a room mate to help make ends meet, not the type of tenant you would look for I would think. King Maker: Pamela Harrison’s Astonishing Life of Power, Seduction and Intrigue by Sonia Purnell. Winston Churchill’s daughter-in-law became a `secret weapon’ during World War 11 wining, dining and seducing diplomats and envoys, a spy for Churchill, worth reading. Guinness by Arthur Guinness is a factual story of the Guinness founder’s life and the brewing empire’s history, includes fascinating facts. The Girls Before by Kate Alice Marshall a girl trapped in a dark underground bunker who doesn’t know how long she has been there, a thriller. The Seeker and the Sage by Brigid Delaney the theme of the book is `we are all going to die so how should we live? A question and answer book, a bit different. The Deed by Susannah Begbie described as funny, sad, interesting and a great insight into life in rural Australia. The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage story of the Cold War by Ben MacIntyre, Communist life in the 1960’s, the story of the Cold War. Our favourites made an appearance two books by James Patterson, Private Rogue and Three Days to Live whilst Persuader by Lee Child a typical Jack Reacher.
